Job Description

Hello! We’re a husband and wife owned, ten person real estate team, looking for a new agent that we can add to our team to help us become more balanced, efficient, and better position our company for the growth that we foresee in the coming years. Best of all, while it's preferred that you're already in the business, you don't have to be currently licensed!

As a team we work hard, and we’ve invested a lot of time, energy, and money into our success, so if you’re not someone that can match our ambition, pace, and desire to grab opportunity, you can probably stop reading now because you’re not going to be a fit for us. However, if you aspire to be a part of a team with great things in the works, we may just have big plans for you.

Who we’re looking for

A people person that can communicate at a high level, solve problems quickly and effectively, and someone that gains fulfillment from serving others. Yes, the earing potential for our agents is very high, our primary goal always has been, and will always be, to convert our clients into raving fans through an unparalleled customer service experience that goes far above and beyond what is anticipated or expected. If you share in our tireless pursuit of excellence, and you also don’t mind selling some houses along the way, we’d love to talk.

Role/responsibilities

This position is for a purchasing agent (although there is opportunity for expanded responsibility in the future), meaning that it will focus on procuring and helping buyer clients find the perfect fit for whatever their next chapter is. Practically speaking, we’ve diluted this down to a few primary, daily focuses:

-Prospecting for new business and fostering relationships with current/past clients

-Converting leads

-Showing properties

-Negotiating contracts and inspections

-Honing your skills and broadening your knowledge

That’s it. It isn’t complicated. Granted, while there’s a lot of nuance that we’re skipping over to keep things simple, there’s no magic trick. What we've been able to create using the leverage of our team means that most everything else is done for you. From cultivating and nurturing leads, to organizing and executing the administrative side of every transaction (this is HUGE), to helping maintain your ongoing relationships at a high level, the team is there to create a perfectly balanced symbiotic relationship between agent and team where the whole is greater than the sum of its parts.

Simply put, just follow our model, perfect your craft, and you’re going to be successful. If that sounds too simple to work, or too good to be true, or you're just curious what "successful" actually means, I don't blame you. We're happy to go through real life examples that back up what we claim, so just reach out and let's talk!

Work hours and location

Plan on this one being a bit dynamic. While we expect this to be someone’s full time focus, with a specific set of responsibilities and goals attached, this will be a fully 1099, commission based role. That means that we can’t, and won’t, place a full set of requirements on your schedule. Outside of being present for team meetings and functions, your time is largely yours to budget and plan. With that said, we’re a tightly knit team and we work very collaboratively together. If you generally thrive or prefer to work in a more independent environment, we’re probably not the right fit for you.

Non-negotiable traits:

Real estate license (not required prior to hire)...in fact, most of our team has been hired initially unlicensed.

Pretty simple. If you want to sell, you’ve got to be licensed. We can discuss the cost and timeline of this in detail during the interviewing process, but attaining a sales license is much cheaper than you might think, and should be achievable pretty quickly (within 60-70 days).

Charismatic

First and foremost, people work with people that they like. The same goes in real estate. Clients work with agents that they like and that they trust. You don’t get a second opportunity for a first impression, so being articulate, well-spoken, and having the ability to quickly build rapport with strangers will help you open doors that you otherwise might not be able to.

Eagerness to learn

A thirst for knowledge, an appetite for education, a lust for learning, a spirit of inquiry, or whatever other title you want to give it, being a curious learner is essential. Despite what HGTV might have you believe, real estate is complicated and it can get messy very quickly, not to mention the fact that the industry is living, breathing, and constantly changing. From contracts, to negotiating techniques, to construction, to psychology, to customer service, there’s always a lot going on and a lot to learn. The better educated you are about the different pieces of the puzzle the better equipped you are to handle situations where people are looking to you to be their sounding board of information and advice.

Problem solver

Can you quickly uncover and assimilate information and use that to develop an action plan? Hopefully so. Buying or selling a house can be a logistical and emotional roller coaster that creates a wide range of obstacles for everyone involved, from finding the right house, to inspection repairs, to financing, to simple price haggling. Being a great agent means that you’re able to uncover a client’s motivations and determine what’s important to them, while also determining the most likely path to success.

Flexible

As previously mentioned, our business doesn’t operate within traditional business hours, so you’ll need to be available to interface with clients outside of the typical 9-5 and on weekends. This DOESN’T mean that you’re expected to work constantly, but your schedule will be dynamic and you won’t always know what your day is going to hold when you wake up. This leads us to...

Disciplined

Success or failure in this role will be largely dependent on your ability to funnel your motivation into consistent activity patterns. Because predictable activities produce predictable results, adapting your schedule and energy to align with what we already know works will equate to quicker success. However, actualizing this is easier said than done and it takes incredibly strong discipline and accountability..

Compensation

As a part of our system, you will have every opportunity to succeed, but as an agent your income is determined solely by your sales volume. That means that while there’s a high degree of certainty of success for the right person with the right attitude, there’s no the guarantee of a paycheck coming every two weeks. If that trade off doesn’t work with your lifestyle or budget, this may not be the career path that you want to take. Suffice to say though, if you bring the motivation and ambition then there’s incredible, virtually unlimited opportunity.

SO, IF YOU’RE STILL INTERESTED AND WOULD LIKE TO SET UP AN INITIAL 10- 15 MINUTE PHONE CALL TO DISCUSS FURTHER...

Please submit a resume and TWO short paragraphs to us with the following items. If you don’t follow the instructions then your resume won’t be considered.

1. Why we should hire you above anyone else that we have/will talk to. Here’s your chance to shine, so humble-brag away.

2. What your LEAST favorite HGTV show is, and why. Have fun, make us laugh, appeal to our reality TV- hating sensibilities.

We look forward to hearing from you!
